Am I on pace for this quarter's target?

On pace is a comparison of two rates: the one you’re running and the one the target needs. The cumulative total so far doesn’t answer it — a healthy total can hide a rate that has fallen off. Through Unl the read compares your current rate to the required rate, so pace is a verdict, not a total.

Say your target is a hundred and twenty demos booked this quarter. Seven weeks in you have seventy — ahead on total. But the read compares rates: your first weeks ran at fourteen a week, the last two at six, and the rate needed for the remaining fifty is ten a week, so on your current rate you finish at ninety-eight, behind. The verdict is off pace, despite the healthy total.

That is the answer the total hid. You look ahead by cumulative progress and are behind by pace, and only the rate comparison surfaces it — in time to lift the rate rather than discover the shortfall at the end.

Because the read recomputes required-versus-actual rate as the weeks pass, the pace verdict stays current: a good week lifts the actual rate and can move you back on pace; a slow one pushes you further off. The answer tracks your real speed, not your starting momentum.
