Algolia through Unl reads what the account already indexes:
- Lists indices across the account and gets the settings for a named index
- Runs search queries against an index and returns the objects that match
- Gets a specific object's record from an index

What the naked read gives you
Ask Algolia's own MCP server what an index currently contains and it queries the index directly: the live settings, the actual records, the current searchable attributes. It's a precise, real-time read of index state, not a cached snapshot from whenever it was last checked.
The frame judges the data it is given; it does not verify the source’s accuracy.
What changes when Algolia is read measured
A search lead ratified that no new-market index goes live for traffic without region-specific synonyms and facet filters reviewed and applied, because a launch once returned zero results for a common local search term nobody had mapped.

A synonym set configured for the market in question. Once Algolia's own settings read shows synonyms in place alongside the existing facet filters, the same question returns cleared - the launch rule hasn't moved, the index configuration has.
How do I connect Algolia to Claude?
Create an MCP server from the Algolia dashboard, choose which indices to expose, and add the resulting server URL as an MCP connector in Claude Code or Claude Desktop. Its read-only search tools then become a source Unl can query.
Does Unl change anything in my Algolia indices?
No. The connection uses Algolia's read-only tool set - searching, getting settings, retrieving objects. Nothing is cleared, deleted or reconfigured as a result of a measured answer.
