Coda shows the table and what its formulas calculate. Whether that calculated status is actually true is your call - a formula that says 'complete' hasn't checked anything itself.

Coda through Unl reads docs, tables and rows against the verified criterion you have ratified, so 'is this row actually complete' comes back ready-or-wait with the condition it hasn't met.

What Coda holds

Coda's official MCP server exposes:

  • search across documents, pages, tables and rows, returning ranked results with URLs
  • page reads - read a page or analyse a table directly
  • row and column listing within a configured document
  • document listing across your workspace

What the naked read gives you

Ask Coda's own MCP for the vendor-onboarding row and it hands back exactly what the table computes: a status column reading 'Complete', driven by a formula checking that five other cells are non-blank. That's an honest read of the table's logic. What it can't tell you is whether those five cells contain real, checked information or placeholder text someone typed in to stop the formula nagging them. Coda evaluates its formulas exactly as written; whether the inputs behind them are trustworthy is outside what a formula result can confirm.

The frame judges the data it is given; it does not verify the source’s accuracy.

What changes when Coda is read measured

Your chief of staff ratified the rule in Unl: a vendor row only counts as complete once the formula reads Complete and the contract-file link has actually been opened and logged by someone on the team - because a formula fed placeholder text will happily say Complete too.

'Is the Northwind vendor row actually complete' returns, measured: not met - the formula reads Complete, but no one has logged opening the contract-file link yet. Coda supplied the formula output and the row's cell values; your ratified rule supplied the verified criterion.
