Why the habit tracker stops changing your behaviour
A streak grid is satisfying for exactly one reason: it rewards showing up. That is also its entire limitation. A streak can run unbroken for months while the thing you actually meant to change never moves — because “showed up” and “did the thing that counts” are different claims, and the grid only ever tracks the first.

Say you're an indie developer with a rule that was meant to replace vague busyness: one meaningful shipped change a week, “shipping, not activity, is my measure.” Your streak is nineteen days unbroken — commits every day, something in the diff every time.

Why the grid can't catch this on its own
A streak grid has no field for “shipped” versus “edited” — that distinction is your own definition, not a property the app can see in a commit log. A general-purpose model asked to review the same commits would describe them accurately and still call the week productive, because it has no access to your shipping bar or the reasoning behind it.

Why does my habit tracker say I'm consistent when nothing is actually changing?
