Is this key result on track?
The completion percentage does not answer this; the bar you set does. A key result at fifty-five per cent is on track or behind depending on the pace it needs and the weeks left. Through Unl the read judges the number against your bar, so the answer is a verdict, not a figure you interpret.

The number is only half the answer
A completion figure tells you position and nothing about whether position is enough. Enough is defined by the run-rate to the target across the weeks remaining, which is a bar the owner set. Ask “is this on track?” with only the figure and you are missing the half that turns it into a verdict.
So the honest answer needs the bar present. With it, fifty-five per cent resolves cleanly to on-pace or behind; without it, fifty-five per cent is just a number you feel out.
The verdict, worked
Say your key result is two hundred paying subscribers by quarter-end, with a bar you have ratified: on-track means at least seventy per cent of the run-rate at any check, because below that the final weeks can’t close the gap. At week seven you are at a hundred and ten. The read returns: behind — you’re at sixty-two per cent of run-rate, under your seventy bar, and the bar exists because a late gap this size doesn’t recover.
That is a verdict you can act on. You are not told “a hundred and ten of two hundred” and left to judge; you are told behind-your-bar-and-why, in time to change something.
When the answer is on-track
The same read confirms cleanly when it should. At a hundred and fifty with three weeks left and an accelerating rate, it returns on pace — above your run-rate bar and closing, so hold course. No false alarm, because the bar accounts for trajectory, not just position.
And if you revise the bar — deciding a slower finish is acceptable because a large annual deal is landing separately — you ratify it, and the next read judges against the bar you now hold.
