Xero through Unl
Xero is a precise set of books. Precise books still don’t answer “are we safe, by the floor I set?” — that floor is your judgement, applied to the numbers.
Xero through Unl reads your live accounts — cash position, P&L, bank transactions, aged receivables — against the financial floor you have ratified, so you get “above your floor but closing, and here is the single biggest lever” rather than a runway figure on its own.

Xero’s official MCP server exposes the accounting surface with granular read-only scopes:

What the naked read gives you
The naked read is your runway: 4.4 months. True, and it stops there — it doesn’t know that 4.4 is above your line but drifting toward it, and it doesn’t point at what would move it.
The frame judges the data it is given; it does not verify the source’s accuracy.
What changes when Xero is read measured
Say you set two floors: never let runway fall below four months, and no single client past £5k overdue. Both are boundaries you chose, for reasons you can state.
Asked “are we alright on cash?”, the measured read returns: runway is 4.4 months — above your four-month floor, but closing; and one client is over your overdue boundary at £6.2k, which is the single biggest lever on that runway. The books came from Xero; the floors, the breach and the lever came from the criteria you ratified.

How do I connect Xero to Claude or ChatGPT?

Is my Xero data changed or stored?
Unl reads through Xero, and can write back on your explicit gesture — it never acts as a side effect of a read.
What if my burn changes in the month I check the runway floor?
Then the floor is being measured against a burn that is no longer the one you set it with, and that is worth knowing before the number is trusted. Runway is cash divided by a burn figure Xero reports but did not choose; if the burn has moved, the four-month floor answers a different question than the one you asked. The read gives you the figure and the burn it used, so you can say whether the rule still means what you meant.
