How do I connect Mercury to ChatGPT?

A bank connection that is read-only by design pairs well with any assistant — ChatGPT included. Nothing here can move money; everything here can answer about it.

Direct answer: Mercury's hosted MCP server — read-only by design — connects to ChatGPT as to any MCP client. In ChatGPT, add it from the connector settings (developer mode); the tool's own docs carry the current path. Authorised, ChatGPT reads accounts, balances, transactions, cards, recipients, statements and treasury positions.

Observation without write risk

Because the server has no write path, the connected session's entire capability is seeing: what cleared, what the cards did this month, how the treasury sits. For a bank, that is precisely the right shape to hand an assistant — on any surface.

The idle-cash rule nobody's dashboard enforces

Worked case: you ratified an idle-cash rule — anything above the operating buffer moves to yield within a week of landing, priced by the month a large payment sat flat while rates were at their peak. Mercury shows the balance and the treasury split faithfully. That cash is 'idle by your definition, eight days and counting' is your rule doing arithmetic the dashboard was never asked to do.

Through Unl the balance read arrives measured: £62k above buffer, landed nine days ago — over your week, by the rule the flat month wrote. The nudge fires because you ratified it, not because a product manager guessed you'd want it.

Mercury to ChatGPT is a read-only bank feed for conversation; through Unl it is the same feed judged by your treasury rules — idle cash gets named on your definition of idle.

Reads through Unl arrive with measured context — in the presence of the decisions you’ve already settled. The reach lane is live: one box, paste anything. If it speaks MCP, Unl can reach it. Readings arrive unprompted, the data beside the criterion; Unl is a courier, not a warehouse, and keeps only your keys and the frame.

Questions people ask

Is connecting a bank to ChatGPT safe?

Mercury's server is read-only by design — no tool in it moves money. The connected assistant can observe and answer; acting stays in the bank's own product with its own controls.

What does the read cover?

Accounts, balances, transactions, cards, recipients, statements and treasury — the full observational surface, same as in any MCP client.

Why hold treasury rules in Unl?

Because they are decisions with reasons, and they should follow you across surfaces. Ratified once, the idle-cash week applies to every balance read, whichever assistant asked.

What this is

Think inside your AI world — you stay in command

Unlimitless (Unl to friends) holds what you've settled, reads what your tools are showing, and catches what's changed out in the world — and hands your AI whatever bears on the work, the moment it's needed, without you asking. The right thing, in front of the model, unprompted, with you in command of the call. So you keep moving toward what you set out to build, on top of everything you've already decided.

It plugs into Claude, Claude Code, ChatGPT and Cursor as an MCP connector. Quick to connect, in a couple of steps.

Unlimitless is open now to invited Alpha. Apply for the Beta waitlist to come in ahead of the full launch:
